The First Nations in the Amazon are rapidly losing their ancient traditions and they receive little compensation as their natural resources are exploited. Our program aims to rescue and revitalize ancestral knowledge among indigenous culture and encourage Amazonian identity. In addition to culture projects, we will develop sustainable solutions to help indigenous people get out of the poverty cycle.
Cultural Heritage & Ecology Center
We are creating a cultural heritage and ecological interpretation center in Puerto Maldonado, the capital of the Madre de Dios region. The purpose of the center is to share from the indigenous people’s understanding and wisdom the wonders of the Amazonian mystery. The foundation along with our alliance partners have purchased 4000m2 of land near the center of the city in an old indigenous neighborhood.
Activities at the Center:
- Cultural and environmental education and library,
- Documentaries about indigenous cultures,
- Store selling fair trade products made by local artisans
- First Nations living museum,
- Medicine and exotic plant garden,
- Exotic fish aquarium,
- Butterfly house,
- Resort lodge,
- Staffed and managed by indigenous people,
- Sustainable development support,
- Administrative offices for the foundation are located in this complex
- Connection with the Madre De Dios Amazonian school of arts,
